Mammograms save lives!

Yesterday when I was stuck in the doctor office waiting room, the Queen Latifah show was on the TV, and the subject was breast cancer.   Though I only caught the end of the show, one statistic stuck in my mind that I wanted to share with you:

A 30% decrease in deaths among breast cancer patients since 1990 can be attributed to the increase of preventative mammograms.

We all know early detection saves lives.  But I for one had no idea of how true this is until I heard this statistic.  And there’s more good news: mammogram testing has improved greatly in recent years, so it’s no longer the uncomfortable or painful experience it used to be!

It is recommended that women get tested for breast cancer annually once reaching the age of 40.

A $200 donation to our Avon39 team can provide a mammogram to a woman who couldn’t otherwise afford it.  Just think, it only takes $200 to save the life of a mother, a sister, a daughter.  One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their life time… If you think of eight women in your own life, what price would you put on just one of their lives?

Donate today, it only takes a minute to help save a life!  Click here to donate online, or contact us to learn more.
